Dear Parents and Carers,

On behalf of the governors and staff I would like to welcome you and your child to West Town Lane Academy. I am privileged to be able to lead such a wonderful school, and to be given the opportunity to ensure that your child receives the very best education possible.

This website is intended to introduce you to our Academy and the adventure we offer. It serves a dual purpose of providing the routine information for new and existing parents as well as an insight into our Academy’s aims and beliefs. It therefore includes general information about our routines and also more specific information about the educational provision.

We aim to give our children the best possible opportunities and learning experiences, enabling them to reach their full potential. We aim to ensure that the children in our care are equipped for life-long learning as responsible British citizens in an ever-changing, diverse local and world-wide community. We believe that everyone has the capacity to become great if they have the courage to challenge themselves. Children are encouraged to find out about their own strengths and talents to allow them strive to achieve the best they can all the time. A high expectation underpins all we do and children continue to improve through understanding the process of learning and ongoing assessment to ensure children are learning what they need to know next. We create an exciting and vibrant curriculum that is matched to children’s next steps in learning and one which children feel they are involved with their learning targets.

West Town Lane is far more than a place in which to work and learn. It is also a place where we begin to build relationships with other people, find out how to work collaboratively, develop a sense of ourselves, and discover how we as individuals fit into our world and society. We believe that it takes a whole community to educate a child, so we aim to work in partnership with parents, both individually and collectively.

We hope this website gives you the information you need, but if you have any questions please contact us to find out more.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. Hughes
